Although real estate was always my goal, my career took an unexpected turn after college. However, the roles I took on ended up providing the ideal training ground for my future as a REALTOR®.
I’ve known from a young age that real estate was my true calling, but I was waiting for the right moment to make the leap. That moment arrived when I met a business partner, and together we started investing in real estate—an opportunity that ultimately changed the course of my career.
As a kid, I was captivated by TV shows that showcased home renovations and transformations, which sparked my interest in the industry. That fascination deepened when I had the chance to shadow a real estate agent for a college class. After that experience, I was certain this was the path I was meant to follow. However, life had other plans, and I wasn't able to pursue real estate full-time just yet.
After graduating from college, I started my career at a warehouse management company, where I was responsible for overseeing employees and ensuring smooth operations. Eventually, I transitioned into a business analysis role at another company, focusing on analyzing financial and transportation data. As I gained experience, I worked my way up to Director of Operations, managing over 300 employees and overseeing all aspects of the business, while reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This role provided a solid foundation and invaluable skills that would later prove essential in my real estate career.
The skills I developed as Director of Operations became crucial assets in my real estate career. But despite my passion for real estate, the timing wasn’t right for me to make the shift just yet.
Everything changed when I attended a seminar on real estate investing and met Ray, a fellow enthusiast who shared my drive to invest. We instantly clicked and decided to team up as business partners. Together, we started purchasing properties, flipping houses, and investing in rentals. While real estate investment posed its fair share of challenges, I thrived on solving the problems that came our way. In 2013, I obtained my REALTOR® license and finally took a deeper dive into the industry I’d always been drawn to.
For the next decade, I balanced two full-time roles: Director of Operations and REALTOR®. During this time, I continued to invest in properties. It was a period of significant stress and little free time, but it was worth it. At the time I was dating Lindsay who would later become my wife. We had to navigate our relationship while I juggled work and investment projects.
Despite the challenges, my background in real estate investing has proven to be an invaluable resource for my clients. I approach all transactions with the same care and analytical mindset I use for my own investments. One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a family over the course of five years, helping them sell an investment property, sell their primary home, and ultimately purchase their dream home. It was deeply fulfilling to see this family’s happiness as they moved through multiple milestones in their lives.
Today, Lindsay and I are married with two young children—Grayson and Harper. Fatherhood has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life, and I’m so proud of the family we’ve built together. Lindsay has been my constant support, grounding me during tough times and cheering me on throughout it all.
In my downtime, I enjoy coaching the children’s sports teams and playing golf. Our home is lively with our three dogs and we’re all actively involved in our church. I feel incredibly blessed to have built a business that supports my family and allows me to pursue a career I truly love. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing.
